Instructor: Derrick Jensen, MFa, Deep Green Resistance
Derrick Jensen is the co-founder of Deep Green Resistance, an eco-centric international environmental organization based on the book he authored with co-founder Lierre Keith, Deep Green Resistance. Prior to his cancellation in 2012, he was a prolific public speaker and award-winning author. His publications include The Myth of Human Supremacy, Welcome to the Machine, Walking on Water, Strangely Like War, The Culture of Make Believe, A Language Older Than Words, Listening to the Land, Truths Among Us and nearly a dozen other titles, not to mention his speeches and regular interviews on Resistance Radio.
As the pre-eminent biocentrist thinker today, Derrick brings an extraordinary knowledge of history, ecology and philosophy to his extemporaneous style of teaching, developed during his career as a creative writing instructor and public speaker. Each seminar is structured around a theme taken from the preceding week’s events. Sometimes those are events that have unfolded in geopolitics or science news; sometimes they are events that have unfolded with dogs, bears, salmon, birds or trees on Derrick’s property in Crescent City.
